years... but have added husband, Mike; two sons,

most perfect grandchildren, Ashlen and Brooks. I now
teach teacher wannabes at Athens State University.
See you in November! 2019 Update: I will be unable to attend this time...the reunion coincides with another commitment made over a year ago. I think I was holding out trying to figure out how to do both. All is well. I am fully retired and enjoying grandkids. I still live on the same plot of ground I grew up on, but Mike and I have downsized. We moved in the smaller house my mom and dad built when Mike and I got married. My youngest son, his wife, and two little girls have moved into the house I lived in for 67 years!! ☺ My oldest son, his wife, daughter, and son have also built a home on the same land. We are blessed to have everyone close. Please tell everyone hello for me! And much love to all! 1969 does not seem like it was 50 years ago!! |

Comments: Have only made one reunion so
far, coming to this one. The boys are out of college
and gone (one has a touring rock band, the other's
in medical school). I'm still engineering by day and
doing music at night (sing with a professional
chamber choir and sing and play guitar, mandolin,
and banjo solo and with different groups). Linda's
still teaching. We have plenty of room, come visit
Savannah. 2019 Update: I’ve been married for 43 years to Linda, a middle school teacher (math and Latin), who retired this year. After getting a BS in Civil Engineering from the University of Alabama and an ME in Structural Engineering from the University of Tennessee and passing the Professional Engineer (PE) exam, I have worked for utility companies, the highway department, the federal government, and city governments as design engineer, construction engineer, project manager, and Public Works Director. For most of my career I have been Director of Engineering. For the last 30 years I was first Savannah City Engineer and then Director of Engineering for the Savannah/Hilton Head International Airport, where I still am. We have two sons: Corey is a surgeon and Andrew is a rock star who travels the world. I still play folk, pop, country, and bluegrass music on various guitars, banjos, mandolins, and other instruments. We have two grandchildren four years old, a boy and a girl, one from each son. I am gearing up my people for me to retire in another year or two. |

| Comments: Phil continued to practice internal medicine until 2011, when he was diagnosed with Mild Cognitive Impairment. For the next two years he read novels back to back, while doing crossword puzzles and anything else he could to keep his mind active. We went on a cruise, snow skiied with daughter Meredith and her family, and enjoyed Smith Lake with Amy and her kids. In 2013 his diagnosis became Alzheimers, but he tried to hang on, losing most of his language skills around 2016 and 2017. Amy was murdered in 2017–then the slide became steep. This January he moved into the Memory Care Unit at Westminster in Cullman. | ||
