Experience: Sandra Dee, "Grease" ; Miep, "Diary of Anne Frank" ; Darlene, "The Diviners" ; Maggie Abernethy & Jane Ashton, "Brigadoon" ; Betty, "The Foreigner" (all out of state) ; Cherie, "Bus Stop", (Scottsboro Little Theatre); Jo Harper & Joanna Wilkes, "Big River" (Northeast Alabama Community College Theatre, under Ann Everett); Kate, Third Witch, McDuff, & Messenger, "The Farndale Avenue Housing Estate Townswomen's Guild Dramatic Society's Production of MacBeth" (Theatre Huntsville). Sing: Alto preferred. Lots of singing experience, both choral & Jazz. Dance: Many years of dance, mostly ballet & modern, some jazz/tap. Have taught dance to students ages 2-10, and was Choreographer for Scottsboro Little Theatre's 1997 production of "The Fantasticks." I had a featured dance piece in "Brigadoon" as Maggie. I am still sad I had to be in a wheelchair onstage in "Farndale" while everyone else danced to "Thriller!". Preferred Roles: Working with some small theatre groups over the years gave me the chance to play a couple of ingenue roles; HOWEVER, I embrace the fact that I am a character actor :). I love comedy & Carol Burnett was definitely a childhood idol. Before I die: I am going to do real, honest-to-goodness Shakespeare. Just waiting for the right time. I also want to experience working on a film. (I was an extra in "Little Darlings"! Look for me on the front row during the talent show!!). I really fell in love with "Betty" from "The Foreigner", although it was emotionally damaging to draw on all those wrinkles. I had a total blast doing "Farndale" with Theatre Huntsville...definitely in the top 3! And I will mention that Scottsboro Little Theatre in 1996 was my grand slam award experience, with "Best Female Lead," "Best Songster,", and "Sexiest Character," for "Bus Stop." Now that was fun! :) Other: Voice-over training with the late Pam Carter in Omaha, NE. Pam was casting voice work for Nickelodeon films at the time I took her class. Some Sign Language experience. I can play guitar, flute and tenor sax. Dialects used onstage include "Backwoods" Southern, Southern belle, New Yorker, Scottish, and upper class Brit. There are others I play with around the house. Yes, my family knows I am nuts. |
