Submission Guidelines

MOST IMPORTANT: Please submit unformatted text! It will be formatted to be consistent with other postings. Hint: If you use the form, you will make things much easier.

For Productions
  • Provide dates, times and venue.
  • Ticket info (at the least, a number to call)
  • Contact info: email and website, if appropriate
  • Synopsis (optional)
  • Other info as you see fit (director, cast, featured players, quotes, etc.)
For Auditions
  • Dates, times, and location (directions are helpful unless it is well-known).
  • The Show, and perhaps a small synopsis (unless it's a company's season audition; if so, please indicate).
  • Production dates.
  • Director.
  • Cast requirements (e.g., "3 Men, 6 Women", "2 Men (20-40), 1 woman (50-60), 2 women (20-25)", "1 Man, 1 Woman, 1 anaconda", etc.)
  • Preparation instructions: audition will consist of cold reading; prepare a monologue; prepare a song, dance, whatever.
  • Contact person (+ email, website and/or phone)
  • Other info as you see fit.

Some editing of your submission may be necessary. E.g., if you supply a cast list of 20 names, it will likely be tossed. Best to keep it to featured players if the cast is large.

Posting Times

For productions: Notices for a show will begin being posted two weeks before opening. The reasoning is dual: (1) as opposed to PSAs and posters, which possess a random nature as to whether someone hears/sees them, this mailing is to a guaranteed target audience, and they WILL see it. So (2) it’s better to focus the announcement right around the time of the opening, so readers don’t begin to tune you out (the “Cry 'Wolf'” syndrome).

For auditions: These will begin to be posted a month in advance, but of course, these are for a different audience. Some actors might want/need to actually “prepare” for an audition J.

Kinds of Listings Allowed

Note that this list is strictly for theatrical and performance endeavors (no art exhibits, rock concerts, purely choral events, etc.) and events sponsored by theatrical groups (organizational meetings, fund raisers, etc.). Staying with the single theme will keep the list focused.
