Welcome to the home page for Tabernacle, a musical set in an old time Southern camp meeting, a story of faith failed and faith restored, a clash of old and new, as the folks at the Holy Rock of Ages Camp Meeting deal with changing times and new forces in the world.
Synopsis
The Holy Rock of Ages Camp Meeting Association is in trouble: the money's short and the old folks are dying off. What's a group of Elders to do? Why, hire a fancy televangelist to energize the flock and bring in some youth to brighten up the place. Only problem is, the evangelist just got out of jail, and the youth are all inner city gang members. This culture clash leads to a great deal of fun, dance, and song. And in the end, it leads everyone back to their roots.
Tabernacle is directed by Carol Puckett, and will be staged at the Hartselle Camp Meeting, in the very tabernacle that inspired the play. Production dates are Friday, July, 25 and Saturday, July 26, 2008. Curtain is at 7:00 PM.
