Not Mine But Thine

The will that must direct my soul
Not mine but thine should be
The love sublime that makes me whole
My God is but love for Thee

When I in doubt with fal’tring step
Find questions in the law
By love for God my doubt’s o’er leapt
‘Tis there I find answers all

When greater doubts reveal me deaf
This rule must I apply:
“To love my neighbor as myself”
And love then will be my guide.

For what great good is all this done?
Wherefore this proffered grace?
That I with Christ might live as one
And know my God face to face.
