Heart as
Hearth
Warm, suffusing glow, the heart as hearth,
Fills me surely and complete.
Tidal storms may await without.
Inside this place lies calm fire.
Returning here, I am a compass,
Encircling the best and brightest flame.
What keeps the glow strongly lit
Without burning down the mantle?
Peace and strength, a love whose length
Knows no bound in time or space
Keeps no part in smaller place,
Finds but love in the loved one’s face,
Longs all times to know love’s taste.
