The Holy Rock of Ages Camp Meeting Association is in trouble: the money's short and the old folks are dying off. What's a group of Elders to do? Why, hire a fancy televangelist to energize the flock and bring in some youth to brighten up the place. Only problem is, the evangelist just got out of jail, and the youth are all inner city gang members. This culture clash leads to a great deal of fun, dance, and song. And in the end, it leads everyone back to their roots. Tabernacle, directed by Carol Puckett, premiered at the Princess Theatre in Decatur, Alabama, in May, 1998.
